“Sports Will Die if we Don’t Invest Enough” – Top Sports Official

Ghana Boxing Association Public Relations Officer, Mohammed Amin Lamptey, has expressed his displeasure at the nation’s non-investment in the boxing fraternity.

Amin Lamptey, believes the boxing sector has produced more medals in any sporting field and disappointed at performances of athletes at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, England.

“What we’re seeing in Birmingham now is all about individuals talents. It is not about team work where we plan our target, we have invested, we have motivated, we have provided incentives for these athletes to go and move mountains and come home with a medal”, he stated.

“We should have realized this and be able to know how we can beef up the strategies and the kind of motivation that we need for these boxer to go and move mountains and get us more medals”.

“But what do we see? At any given time, the very major problem for Ghana sport is leadership and lack of planning and that is what is pushing Ghana to the wall”.

Ghana’s 17th participation of the Commonwealth Games has brought 57 medals to the nation with 32 won by boxers.
