A mother called Ama Boahema gives an account on why she wants her daughter to pay back the money she used to take care of her. According to the woman, she gave to her first child named Maa Adwoa at the age of 16, Her boyfriend didn’t take responsibility for the pregnancy and did not also provide anything for the child after she gave birth. One year later her boyfriend travelled out of the country without even knowing it.

Her mother-in-law later told her that her neighbours make a mockery of her because she didn’t give birth to a female but had only males, she pleaded with her to allow her Maa Adwoa to stay with her for some time. She listened to her mother-in-law’s plead and gave her daughter to her. She used to visit them on monthly basis and buy a few things for them.

After her daughter completed junior high school, she came to inform her that her grandmother has advised her not to further her education, but promised to give her three large cocoa farms and a shop to her. Maa Adwoa took her bed, sofa and cooking utensils before she left. Boahema added she received a call from her mother-in-law who informed her that Maa Adwoa wanted to get married. She told the mother-in-law not to support that marriage. Months later she again received information from her daughter’s friends that she is getting married.

She rushed to the wedding venue and truly her daughter was getting marriage without informing her, Boahema said the pastor told her that it was Maa Adwoa’s grandmother who supported the marriage.
