Kelvin Tailor’s LSTV Back On Air; Corrupt Officials Running For Cover?

For the past two weeks, lovers of ‘with all due respect’ show have been starved. This is because the Loudsilence TV was taken down due to the inability of the owner, Kelvin Tailor to pay for the six months subscription. Finally, the most watched TV station at night on weekdays is back on air.

No one knows exactly what went on behind the scenes before the LSTV was brought back. However, Kelvin has encouraged his followers to keep donating a dollar each month so the TV station be kept on to feed Ghanaians with nothing but the truth always.

He said he does not run adverts on his channel or any of his social media handles for two reasons. The first is the fears of dictatorial regime. He said he doesn’t want his client to dictate for him as to what to do or what not to do.

The second reason is the fear of victimisation. According to the US based Ghanaian journalist, he broke an agreement with a multinational to advertise on his program at the beginning of the year. But the government threatened to blacklist the from Ghana if it does business with LSTV hence the had to pull out. Taking to Facebook, Kelvin said he spends almost 5000 dollars a month to keep on the TV on Multitv channel.

“Hello family, in the last few days, LSTV has been down. It is not one of our regular breaks but then it was about the issue of funding.

For the TV to stay on for every month we pay 5,000 dollars which makes it 60,000 dollars for every year.

In cedi equivalent of 8.30 cedis, that is over 500,000 cedis which equivalent to 5 billion old cedis every 12 months.

This excludes other costs like the cost of production, equipment, maintenance etc and the salaries of our hardworking staff.

We have explained several reasons we are not running adverts on the TV set or any of our digital platforms.

Beginning of this year, for instance, we were almost through with signing a mega deal with a multinational money transfer to run advertisements for them on our channel but they had to pull out last minute after receiving threats of shutdown from senior persons in the Akufo Addo Government that if they see their ads running on LSTV they will be blacklisted from Ghana.

This is one of the many issues we face with people who want to advertise with us hence our reason to make the funding a public obligation where people can voluntarily donate to sustain what we do as an anti-corruption crusader.

Times are hard we agree but your 1 dollar which is equivalent to 8 cedis could go a long way to help sustain the broadcast of WADR on TV for those in our small towns who cannot afford smartphones or internet data to also have access to the truth the regular media house in Ghana is keeping away from the masses.

We are Counting on your support on the various attached donation platforms.”
