IGP Dampare Breaks Silence On Ghana Police Service Corruption Tag; Serves Strong Notice To GSS

The Inspector General of Police, IGP Akuffo Dampare has reacted to the corruption tag which has been labelled against the Ghana Police Service.

In a five-page letter signed by the IGP, he made it clear that to the institutions that made such research to provide all detailed evidences to their findings. He added that the Ghana Police Service can no longer accept such tag as the most corrupt institution in Ghana. He added that the Ghana Police Service seems to be a target for the Researchers whenever they go out do do their findings.

He however thanked them for making such report known to the public because he believes that it will help curb corruption in the country. Having said that, the IGP showed displeasure in the report and urged the researchers to prove their findings.

This comes after the Ghana Police Service came out on top as the most corrupt institution among 23 other institutions in Ghana.

The survey further reveals that more than 17.4 million bribes were paid in 2021 with police officers topping the list of officials who take bribes at 53.2%.
