Veteran news editor Kwesi Pratt has waded into commentaries regarding the Mid-Year budget review presentation and the effects on Ghana. There have been mixed reactions after Finance Minister Ken Ofori Atta finished his presentation. The Minority have called it a waste of time and irrelevant. They have alleged that government has with the assistance of the Bank of Ghana printed 22 billion cedis to solve their financial crisis.
According to Kwesi Pratt, he is appalled at the behavior of the so called economic gurus the country claims it has. He noted that the Finance Ministry headed by Ken Ofori Atta keep on changing figures and concocting new ones. Kwesi cited that figures for Free SHS and Covid-19 related funds keep changing. He also questioned why Ghana’s international reserve figures also keep changing.
Kwesi boldly maintained that these discrepancies showed that the Ministry was in crises and needed changes. He bragged that he a mere graduate of Tema Secondary School is better with Maths than Ken Ofori Atta and his men at the Finance Ministry
“What kind of Finance Ministry is this? Which of their figures is right? I am getting confused. The Minister has admitted his figures are wrong. I can’t believe this. I haven’t been to the Harvard School of Business; I haven’t been to Oxford. I haven’t been to Lincoln or any of those places. I am a product of Tema Secondary School. I can do addition and subtraction. And the people who went to Harvard cannot add?” Kwesi said
