Within these few weeks, it appeared as if the government wanted to halt the construction of the National Cathedral taking into consideration, the hardship Ghanaians are going through and the extent to which the economy is dwindling each day, which has necessitated their decision to seek a bailout from the IMF.
Today, Nana Addo has broken his silence on the National Cathedral brouhaha. He admitted that he has heard all the “noise” which has been made about the National Cathedral. Nana Addo later made a statement, which many people described as a U-turn and twist of what he had earlier said.
” My personal view has always been that, even though the Cathedral will be very much a national institution, the cost should be largely borne by the Christian community, with the state providing the land and initial funding to get the project off the ground.”, he explained.
Ghanaians recalled how the President, government officials, and other top Pastors made bold statements that the construction of the National Cathedral, would be solely funded with contributions from Ghanaians and the Christian community.
