Head coach of the Black Satellites of Ghana Karim Zito has made a revealing moment of how he rejected money offered him. He insists that he has never received bribes in a line of duty.Â
“I don’t take bribes in my coaching job. The last time someone sent Gh 5,000 in my Momo account, I wrote a cheque and paid it back.” He told AtinkaFM
Down memory lane, coaches have been accused of taking monies to influence national team call ups and player selection during match days.Â
Coaches with national team duties have had to deal with the bribery perceptions for many years, and whenever a national team fails to impress at an international competitions, coaches come under severe criticisms, as people accused them of receiving money to select players.Â
Coach Karim Zito led Black Satellites to a remarkable feat last year as they won CAF Under – 20 Africa Cup of Nations in Mauritania. That was a Black Satellites side that could boast of Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, Daniel Afriyie Barnieh, Philemon Baffour and goalkeeper Danlad Ibrahim.Â
Karim Zito – leading the Black Satellites in the search for another impeccable feat – failed to make a good show and could not qualify for Africa Cup of Nations in Niger. They lost to neighbors Nigeria and Burkina Faso.
