The Ghana League Clubs Association, (GHALCA) organized preseason tournament for top-flight sides, is set to come off next month ahead of the start of the new campaign.
This year’s edition will be a top six event and us set to feature Ghana Premier League, GPL champions Asante Kotoko, FA Cup Lord’s Accra Hearts of Oak, Medeama SC, Bechem United, Karela United and Accra Great Olympics.
The organizers have set August 14-31 as dates for the duration of the tournament as the clubs prepare for the start of the 2022/23 football season.
The teams have been divided into two groups of three teams each in a round-robin contest to determine which two sides will make it to the semi-finals.
According to the program released for the event, the Baba Yara Stadium will host Asante Kotoko, Medeama SC and Bechem United in one group.
Accra Hearts of Oak, Karela United and Accra Great Olympics will be in the other group to be based at the Accra Sports Stadium.
The organizers will later this month, release sponsors and fixtures for this preseason event to get the teams ready for the tournament.
Asante Kotoko and Hearts of Oak will represent Ghana in the CAF Champions League and Confederation Cup competitions respectively with both events set to kick-off in September this year.
Both, will use the GHALCA Top-6 tournament as part of their preparations for the continental campaign as they hope to do well in their respective competitions.
