The Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has made a bold assertion which has got the attention of Ghanaians. Kofi Bentil is of the view that Ghana is in the situation where it is not necessary to guarantee free education for Ghanaian children, because this is something that is killing the education system in the country.
Speaking on JoyNews’ NewsFile, Mr. Bentil elaborated that even in foreign and developed countries, they do not run free SHS system. He added that, nobody can make a good enough argument on why the government should pay for rich people and even ordinary people to go to boarding school. He clearly stated that, it does not make sense to pay for people to go to boarding school free.
On the contrary, some Ghanaians are not in agreement with Kofi Bentil’s assertion and think that is was not right for him to make such a statement. Though we are facing economic crisis at the moment, we all know the benefits and advantages free SHS has brought to Ghanaians.
