If Boris Johnson resigns, we need to hit the streets on August 4th to demand Akufo Addo go-Baker

The British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has resigned following a decision by some elite ministers together with some 50 members of Parliament to exit his government citing their leader as highly unfit to be in control. The questions which remain are which strong leader is going to replace him at a time when the world is in turmoil? Here in Africa, we have leaders who do worse things than Boris ever did but remain in power for years.

This has been the sentiment of Oliver Baker Vormawor a key member of the fix the country movement who is calling for the immediate resignation of the President of Ghana. Per his assertion, if the prime of the UK can be made to resign from his position, then Akuffo Addo who is deemed a corrupt person should be made to resign also.

However, his critics have said that since we operate a fixed-term presidential system, as opposed to a parliamentary system where the leader and government can be given the sack by the party or parliament, as just happened with Boris Johnson, how exactly is this supposed to work in Ghana?

Although many admire his sense of patriotism he sometimes makes and decisions which are a bit detrimental to the peace we enjoy in the country. He should let polls determine the status of the NPP government in the election which is to come. Moreover, they have less than three years. Let’s all exercise patience. 2024 will come very soon. You and I won’t have a peaceful environment when anything bad happens.
