Ghanaians React As Ghana National Team Side Is Banned For Two Years By FIFA

Ghana has witnessed some setbacks in the past few years with only the Under 20 Mens side clinching the African Under 20 Cup last year. All the other national teams have failed. Perhaps the other consolation for this year was the Black Stars qualification for the World Cup in Qatar later in November. The Black Satellites and Black Starlets all failed in their respective qualification competitions and so did the female sides aside the Female Under 20 side.

Well news coming from the camp of veteran sports journalist, Gary Al-Smith has it that the National Female Under 17 side known as the Black Maidens have been hit with a ban. It can be recalled that the team had to play a last qualifier for the India Under 17 World Cup. In the first leg, Ghana beat Morocco by 2 goals to zero. The Moroccans complained and made a protest to CAF and FIFA. In the second leg, Morocco also beat Ghana by 2 goals to nil and went on to eliminate Ghana on penalties.

FIFA has released its report and after their findings banned the Black Maidens from 2 FIFA Women’s African Qualifiers. This means that Ghana will have to sit out in 2024 and 2026. The GFA will also have to cough out $100,00 as fine. According to the report two players by name Nancy Amoh and Rasheeda Shahadu falsified their birth certificates, it is yet to be seen if the GFA will file an appeal.
