Organizers of the Demonstration Will be Arrested and Put Before Court – Police Assures

Following the chaos that characterised the first day of the Arise Ghana Demonstration, the Ghana Police Service has assured that the Organizers of the demonstration Will arranged before Court in accordance with the law.

The police in a statement also noted that the Service has been able to arrest 29 persons who were involved in the violence and are currently pursuing the rest. Those who incited the violence shall also be brought to face justice. 

The statement signed by the Director Public Affairs, Grace Ansah Akrofi, said available footage of the events are being reviewed and all persons identified for taking part in the attacks as well as inciting the violence violence will be arrested and brought to face Justice.

In addition all organizers of the demonstration will be arrested and put before court for the attacks and damage to public property in line with the provisions of section 3 of the Public Order act Act (491).

The police further entreat the general public to treat with contempt the falsehood being peddled by the organizers with regards to what transpired during the demonstration. They said the evidence provided in footage and images speak for themselves.

Meanwhile, the demonstration is expected to continue today at the Elwac Sports Stadium.
