What the signing of Raphinha will mean to the development of Arsenal’s youngsters.

Arsenal has been quite active in the current transfer window. They have brought in Fabio Viera from FC Porto. They have also added Mat Turner and are on the verge of wrapping up a deal for Gabriel Jesus. It is a well-known fact that the clubs needed a few additions. They narrowly missed out on champions league qualification by a whisker. I blame the lack of experienced players for their failure to finish in the top 4. The form of their key players dropped towards the end of last season. Even though reinforcements are needed, they shouldn’t be done to hamper the growth of the young players in the team. They need as many minutes as they can get to aid their development.

That is why I am worried about the club chasing the signature of the Brazilian Raphinha. We already have very good wide players. Bukayo Saka has been phenomenal in the wings. Martinelli seems to perform best on the wings even though he is primarily a centre-forward. Emile Smith Rowe is also another player that needs game time to grow.

It is not as if Raphinha is any huge significant upgrade on what we already have. He also needs to be worked on as well. So what’s the point in bringing him to stall the growth of what we need to develop? It doesn’t make sense. Arteta should not make that mistake. We need at least 2 more experienced players in midfield and attack. I would have preferred he goes in for Youri Tielemans a proven premier league performer.
