The senior national team of Ghana happens to be most prioritized team most Ghanaians yearn to see in competitive tournaments be it the African Cup of Nations or the World Cup.
Initially, players from the senior national team of Ghana wore green shirts with white shorts whenever they appeared to play in either international friendlies or competitive African tournament.

After wearing the green jersey for seven years with the formation of the team beginning in the year 1951, Osagyefo Dr. Kwame Nkrumah who was the prime minister then requested that the official jersey of the senior national team be changed from green tops with white shorts to an all-white shirt and shorts jersey in 1958.
Ever since Dr. Kwame Nkrumah made this change, the senior national team has maintained the white jersey as their official home jersey both in international football games and in competitive tournaments.
