An Old-time friends of President Nana Addo Dankwa-Akufo Addo, has spoken once again…and expressing his views on the current state of the country economy, under the leadership of President Nana Addo.
Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe is Ghanaian statesman, politician and an old-time friend of President Nana Addo. He was also a founding member of the ruling New Patriotic Party.
Expressing his views on the current state of the Ghanaian economy under President Nana Addo, Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe said the Akufo-Addo he knew, is not the same Nana Addo he sees today as a president.
Speaking on TV3, Nyaho-Tamakloe said, President Nana Akufo-Addo has lost touch with the people and their needs; and that, “You see, the Akufo-Addo that I knew, is not the one I see now. A lot has changed; especially where you talk of corruption. Series of examples are clear cases, that should be sent to court [but nothing]”.
Nyaho-Tamakloe, who was also the president of the Ghana Football Association (from 2001 to 2005); and Ghana’s ambassador to Serbia and Montenegro (from 2005 to 2009), explained that, “the Special Prosecutor has been in office for over a year now; tell me, what he has done? They behave as if Ghana is a toy that is being joked with. But that is not the case. This is a nation, with people in it. People have handled the nation before, and if you feel you want to handle this country, then you must know exactly what you are doing”.
Though a founding member of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Nyaho-Tamakloe stated that, he was worried about the direction the Akuffo Addo-led NPP is leading the country to.
Dr. Nyaho-TamakloeKume, together with Nana Addo, Charles Wereko-Brobby, Comrade Kwesi Pratt Jnr, Akoto Ampaw and Napoleon Abdulai, staged ‘Kumi Preko’ demonstration in 1995 against the Late President JJ Rawling’s government. The demo took place in opposition to the Value Added Tax (VAT) initiative, which was introduced under the Jerry John Rawlings administration.
