NPP Vets 8 Chairmanship Aspirants

The Mac Manu Election Committee of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) will be vetting some eight aspirants seeking to occupy the position of National Chairman in the party’s forthcoming National elections.

The chairmanship aspirants namely Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, Stephen Ayesu Ntim, Stephen Asamoah Boateng, Sammy Crabbe, Akwasi Osei Adjei, Joseph Ayikoi Otoo, and Kwabena Abankwah-Yeboah, picked nomination forms to run for the National Chairperson position.

Gifty Asantewaa Ayeh popularly called Daavi Ama, a former National Treasurer of the party is the eighth and only female aspirant who wants to chair the party.

The six General Secretary aspirants will also be vetted today to bring the four day exercise to an end.

The process began with the vetting of the first batch of aspirants Friday at the party’s headquarters annex at Kokomlemle in Accra, which saw applicants for the National Women’s Organiser, National Youth Organiser and Nasara Coordinator positions being vetted.

Vetting of aspirants for the National Organiser and Treasurer positions took place Saturday while those gunning for the Vice Chairperson position was held Sunday.

Ten persons picked forms to contest the National Vice Chairperson positions, whereas six others also picked forms for the General Secretary position.

The vetting committee is expected to release its report on Wednesday, June 22, 2022, to enable those who will be disqualified and wsnt to appeal to do so.

Meanwhile, the nine-member National Appeals Committee under the chairmanship of Dan Botwe, a former General Secretary will superintend over elections-related cases between June 24 and June 25.

The NPP National Executives Committee elections is slated for Friday, July 15 to Sunday, July 17, 2022 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
