Need just in reveals that some three members of Parliament on the ticket of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has been accused of failing to refund over paid salaries. The three MPs are said to have refused to refund the salaries they were over paid after they were notified by a controller and accountant general’s department.
According to Citi News’ Parliamentary Correspondent, Duke Mensah Opoku, the three MPs are first-term MPs by the names, Sylvester Tetteh who is the member of Parliament for Bortianor Ngleshie Amanfro has allegedly kept about 131,000 Ghana cedis, Stephen Jalulah who is also the MP for Pru West has also allegedly pocketed 119,000 Ghana cedis, and Alexander Gyan, the MP for Kintampo South has allegedly pocketed 119,000 Ghana cedis.
These members of Parliament were former DCEs and CEOs in the first term of the Akufo-Addo government but are currently MPs and so they were paid salaries of their previous positions as well as salaries as members of Parliament. According to Citi TV, the fourth person to be accused was MP for Salaga North, Alhassan Iddi but he has refunded an overpaid amount of 42,000 Ghana cedis.
