The Ghana police service has taken to their social media page to inform all Ghanaians that the Kwame Nkrumah motorway has been opened to full capacity this morning. The road was undergoing some repair works but it seems all is done now.
The police service wrote on their page that “Kwame Nkrumah Motorway – N1 has been opened to full traffic at 6:00 am this morning following the completion of repair works on the Lakplakpa bridge along the Tema-Accra bound lane.” They also thanked motorists for their patience during the period the repair works were being carried out.
The Roads and Highways Minister, Kwasi Amoako-Attah has assured commuters of the Accra-Tema Motorway that the repaired bridge on the stretch has passed the integrity test and drivers can use it without fear. With the road currently opened to full capacity, heavy traffic that was experienced in some parts of Accra will reduce.
