Ghanaians react to Nana Addo’s message to NCCE Boss: The lion asked the deer to come and play

The President of Ghana has assured the New NCCE Boss of government’s vehement commitment to provide resources for carrying out the mandate of the Commission. He also reminded the New Chairperson about her independence and even added that she should not allow any one to control her , not even him. Many Ghanaians have reacted to the President’s comment and readers must know some of these reactions.

For example, Atagliya Raphael did not seem to trust the words from the President. Raphael explained that ,he believes that the President wants his appointees to carry out only the agenda of his government. He wished the situation was different.

Amable Benson also opined that the President was only misleading the public with his kind words.

Kwame Gabriel mentioned that the President’s message was a way to tell the new Chairpersom that he can control her. Kwame also stated that he is monitoring to see if the NCCE boss will be allowed to work independently.

Peter Agboso advised that the President should practice what he preaches.

Anthony Blaze Acquah also explained himself in a proverbial ‘adage’ as he stated that the President’s message reminds him of how the lion would call the deer to play whilst assuring that he would not eat the deer but eventually does.

Other Ghanaians have said that if the President was able to control the Special Prosecutor or the Speaker of Parliament, then it would be easy to control the NCCE Chairperson.

What are your thoughts on the ongoing discussion? Do you think the President was only misleading the new appointee? Do you think the reactions are not realistic?

Eveb though, Joyce Sparkles alleged that Kathleen was planted to frustrate her former boss to resign, we can not vouch for that claim.

Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo-Addo was speaking at the swearing-in ceremony for Madam Kathleen Addy as the new Chairperson. We wish the new NCCE Chairperson the very best in all her endeavours.
