Readers can recall how the demonstration by the Islamic SHS led to a violent confrontation with the Police. Readers can also remember how the IGP visited the school and provided some assurances. He explained that if it is true that some teachers incited the students, then it is condemnable and should not be repeated. The Bantama Member of Parliament also made some other strong comments on the situation. He also implored the IGP to do a thorough investigation of the alleged police brutality of the students of Islamic senior high school during Monday’s protest. This according to him, will help bring finality to the issue.
On Friday,17th June 2022, the Defense and Interior Committee of Parliament led by Honourable Kennedy Agyapong also visited the Islamic Senior High School and they have also made some revelations. Honourable Kennedy Agyapong spoke to TV3 journalist about the fact that the Urban Roads Boss in the Ashanti Region must be dismissed for not working on the roads of the school despite the requests dated as far back as 2010.
Many Ghanaians found the call for the dismissal an interesting one. For example, Nana Yaw Asare mentioned that the Ashanti Region Urban Roads Boss is a royal and can not be sacked.
Nabo Stephen also felt sorry for the proposed Scape goat but acknowledged that the man is part of the problem.
Mahamadu Sualisu also asked if the police commander should not be dismissed or punished for the brutalities.
Topper Class did not agree with the Defense committee and he asked if the tear gas was thrown by the Urban Roads Boss.
Kofi also asked why an innocent person should be used as a scapegoat.
Kadiebayor Obed did not agree with the calls made by the committee. He described such calls as political witchhunting.
De-city hunter also mentioned that the school authorities must be blamed for the brutalities.
Aayare Waxy, a popular social media user, simply indicated that based on the calls by the committee, Ghanaians should wait and see the end.
