Former Elite Division campaigners Okwawu United began their quest for qualification to the National Division One League, DOL with a 2-1 win over Port City FC on Wednesday.
The Soccer Mountaineers came from behind to record this win in a game played at the Tafo Rovers Park as the Eastern Regional Second Division Middle League began.
Port City FC took an early lead, but, United fought back to end the first half on level pegging to throw the second half wide open.
And with a couple of minutes to end the encounter, Okwawu United found the winner to begin the middle league competition on a high.
The Soccer Mountaineers are battling to secure qualification to the DOL and, their next two games will be against Susubiribi United and Galaxy FC in Group A.
They will look to top the group and advance to the grand finale of the competition against the winners of Group B for a place in the second tier league next season.
Africa Talents, Asamankese AC Milan, Kotoku Rush Soccer Academy and Real Kpone FC are in Group B of this competition as they seek to top the group to keep their qualification hopes alive.
