Vice-President Bawumia cuts sod for construction of Tamale-Yendi and Yendi-Zabzugu-Tatale Road

The sod for the Tamale-Yendi and Yendi-Zabzugu-Tatale roads has been cut by the government.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia cut the sod for the 168.2 kilometer World Bank-funded project, which is part of the government’s attempts to open up the country for socio-economic progress through the Transport Sector Improvement Project.

The project is divided into two parts: the 106.2-kilometer Tamale-Yendi road and the 61.98-kilometer Yendi-Tatale route.

The project, which will cost $150 million and be completed in August 2024, is being funded by the World Bank.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia declared to the Chiefs and People of the region at Zang that over one thousand kilometers of roads will be renovated across the country over the next two years.

“The Transportation Sector Improvement Project was created to aid in the development of road infrastructure, promote road safety, and strengthen the sector agencies’ capacity.”

The Vice President stated that the government is committed to tackling the issues that commuters confront around the country.
