President Nana Akuffo Addo has thrown a challenge to the Tourism, arts and Culture Ministry to bring in 4 billion dollars as well as 2 million arrivals by 2024. The President stated that the tourism industry is very important for economic progression and Ghana has been blessed in that aspect as we possess a significant number of heritage resources. source
He brought it up during the commissioning of the new national museum at Adabraka on Friday 10 June 2022. These were his words at the commissioning, “Ghana has 65% of the edifices linked with the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade and the oldest European edifices in Africa, the Elmina Castle, built in 1482 is right here with us.” “With the tourism industry ranking as the third largest contributor to GDP after cocoa and our hydrocarbon resources, the government seeks to position the sector to contribute more to our nation’s GDP.”
“I am throwing a challenge to the ministry of tourism, arts and culture and its implementing agencies to achieve 2 million international arrivals by the year 2024 with the corresponding revenue of sum 4 million United States Dollars” he added.
