MP Expresses Disappointment With Ofori Atta’s Justification On National Cathedral

Do we need a national cathedral as a country even though one would agree that there are more pressing needs that needs to be tackled?

The discussion on the national cathedral continue to dominate the airwaves more so after the member of Parliament for the North Tongu Constituency revealed that the government, through the Ministry of Finance has been releasing some monies to contractors responsible for the project.

Well, the outspoken member of Parliament had once again expressed disagreement on the position of the Finance Minister when he appeared on the “Talking Point” show on GTV.

Among other things, the Minister reiterated that the government intends funding the project because “it will pay off”.

It is important to note that the government has earlier indicated that taxpayers’ money was not going to be used and so why this sudden change of plans?

Taking to his Facebook page, the North Tongu MP virtually disagreed with the Finance Minister and outlined some areas that in his opinion, failed to be addressed.

For now, the question remains: what is the government’s response to monies released towards the construction of the National Cathedral without recourse to Parliament?
