The Nana Addo-Bawumia Government: Ghana Finally Getting Close To Dystopia

As the saying goes; “nowhere cool”; yes we all know, that ‘nowhere cool’. No place on this earth, and under the sun is perfect, except ‘Utopia’ as we were told.

Utopia; as described by Sir Thomas More in his 1516 book-Utopia, is “…an imaginary community, or society that possesses highly desirable or nearly perfect qualities for its people”.

In this case, if anyone ever think somewhere cool under this sun, then that will be Utopia; but…sorry, that is also an imagination, because utopia, by definition doesn’t exist.

So, if nowhere cool, then it means USA, Canada, Great Britain, China and all the so-called great countries are all not perfect.

The fact is, if the ‘imaginary Utopia’ is a place that provides highly desirable or nearly perfect conditions for its people (and even for foreigners), then countries like the United States of America, The Great Britain, Canada, China and the rest, can also be described as the real modern day Utopia; because these are countries that our leaders; after failing us, sends their families to (for education, heath care, loans, greener pastures, etc).

leaders, in these well developed countries, are able to provide these close-to-perfect environments for their citizen, so much such that, even foreigners also benefit from; then where are our leaders leading us to?

In this case, and in my opinion, our leaders are leading us…the entire nation to Dystopia.

Dystopia in its simplest definition, is the direct opposite of a Utopia. Dystopia is a society in which most people live wretched and unhappy lives; nearly every life in this imaginary Dystopia society is miserable and poor.

Now, if the living conditions in the so called developed countries, which offer a close-to-perfect conditions for its people can be likened to Utopia, then, to what do we liken a country like ours, where living conditions grown from bad to worst almost everyday?

How do we call a country, where its leaders and their families live in luxury, whiles the majority of the population live in poor conditions… Utopia or Dystopia?

How do we call a place, where the majority of its leaders send their families abroad for healthcare, education and more?

Yes…living conditions weren’t perfect during the previous administrations, but it wasn’t as tough as it is now under this administration either.

The NPP government prior to taking office told us; that Ghana was a land of riches, and majority of its people; though ‘sitting on wealth’, are living in poverty.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP); then looking for power, told Ghanaians, that they were coming to take us to ‘Utopia’ (to put money in our pockets).

Now looking at the situations; the high cost of living, growing unemployment, bad roads etc, i cant help, but to say we are being led to ‘Dystopia’.

What do you think…is the Nana Addo-Bawumia government on-course, taking as to Utopia as promised in the 2016 election, or leading us to Dystopia?
