“Black Stars Need Massive Support at The 2022 World Cup” – Ex-Nigeria Forward

Former Nigerian international, Victor Ikpeba, is advocating for support for the senior national team, Black Stars towards their impending World Cup campaign in Qatar.

Ikpeba, believes the Blacks Stars can cause surprises in Qatar if same performance against Nigeria prior to qualification to Qatar can be replicated in the tournament and encourages media personnels to support the team’s course for success. “Nobody saw Ghana qualifying for the World Cup after a disastrous nations cup. We should give them a chance, not because they are in a very difficult group that they cannot get out of that group but for them to go there they have the quality.

If they show the same character they showed against the Super Eagles side, I’m sure the Ghanaians will get out of that group stage, I’m very sure personally they’ll get out even though the media don’t give them a chance”, he lamented.

Ikpeba, stressed on recent performances of the team and noted that the World Cup in Qatar will revive the supporting role from Ghanaians. “I give them a chance even though on paper, they don’t have the same quality of players they had in 2010 but Ghana have never been short of talent. The football in Ghana have struggled in the past decade so I think qualifying for the World Cup will ginger football lovers in Ghana.
