National Service Allowance to be increased beyond GHC800 – Deputy Director of NSS Explains.

National service personnels in recent times complains about the current allowance they get for their service. They are opting for an increase to GHC800. The deputy director has also explained that they are working to increase the amount beyond the amount they are seek for.

Speaking to Joy News, Gifty Owusu-Mensah, the deputy director of the National Service Scheme (NSS) explained that plans are in place to increase the monthly allowance of service personnels from the current GHC599. She said a proposal had been tabled before the Education Committee of Parliament for consideration.

“The National Service Scheme has already submitted this proposal for an upward adjustment in allowances for our personnels. I have heard them speak asking for GHC800. We have brought something higher than that before parliament” she said to Joy News. She gave the assurance that after the proposal is accepted by parliament, service personnels will receive more than GHC800 as monthly allowance.
