Pre-election Strategy By The Npp? Bawumiah Raises Eyebrows With This Fulfilled Promise

The incumbent government and party in power seem to be having a lot of interest in fulfilling a few of their promises made to the Ghanaian youth prior to the 2020 general elections. Bawumiah has made several promises of which he has been called out for on several occasions. Students were the most promised at some point because the agenda according to the Npp was to promote education. As we all know, the issue of free education was made to materialize. Other school feeding programs etc actualized and Nana Addo was his praise for that.

One of the promises made were promises to the students in the tertiary. Students in the tertiary have had their graduation dreams remain a mere dream and this is why the government under Nana Addo decided to give access to students to go for student loans without any guarantors. Formerly, a student can only have access to this loan if he or she is able to provide guarantors who were also contributors to SSNIT. This made it tough for most students to secure loans looking at the burden they go through to acquire this loan. Bawumiah during the launch revealed that this has been made much easier.

Students can now have full access to student loans and students do not have to provide details of any guarantors talk of those who pay SSNIG before they have access to these students loans. For people who have access to the loan, they are happy about it. But this does not change the narrative and assumption that these promises and new promise fulfillment comes with a hidden intention to win the hearts and minds of these students in the upcoming elections. People have longed to experience this over the years and it seems government could be implementing it now for strategic reasons.
