Kwaku Azar -Tackles People Waging War On Togbe Afede For Returning The 365K Ex- Gratia

Lawyer and KPMG Professor in Accounting at the Fisher School of Accounting, University of Florida Stephen Kwaku Asare widely known as Kwaku Azar has tackled some Ghanaians that are waging war on Togbe Afede XIV for ₵365,392 in ex gratia payments to the government coffers.

In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Tuesday, 7th June 2022, he said that soome Ghanaians are waging war on Togbe Afede XIV for returning ₵365,392, in ex gratia payments, to the national kitty.

He expressed that Togbe’s case for the return of the money is that he abhors huge ex gratia payments and other outrageous benefits to people who volunteer to serve poor Ghana.

He quizzed that, are those who are loudly and proudly waging war on Togbe Afede saying they love huge ex gratia payments and other outrageous benefits to people who volunteer to serve poor Ghana?

” Instead of piggybacking on Togbe’s gesture to call for overhaul of the system that he condemns, you are attacking him for returning a teacher’s 30 years gross salary to the national kitty. Sometimes some of these things can be something!” He added.

The comments of Prof Azar comes as a background to the public condemnation by some Ghanaians on Togbe Afede’s refund of the Ex-gratia to the government.

P.K Sarpong a popular writer for NPP has said that the act of Togbe Afede is pure populism as it does not, in anyway, prove that he loves this country to faults. He believes it is unconscionable on his part to accept this money.

“Why didn’t he reject the salaries as well since the job entailed only a few hours of their time? Why hasn’t he refunded the salaries he took for the entire duration of his tenure? ” P.K Sarpong criticized.
