Vladimir Putin is currently threatening to hit new targets if the west provides Ukraine with long-range missiles. At the moment, it’s not clear if Vladimir Putin is referring to targets within or outside Ukraine. For him, Russia will make certain conclusions and use means of destruction if long-range missiles are supplied to the Ukrainians. Putin has currently made it clear that there are enough weapons to strike any new target.
President Putin’s comment came after the United States of America pledged to supply Kyiv with M142 systems armed with precisions-guided missiles. The range of the said missiles according to media reports would be between 70 to 80 kilometers (43.5 to 50 miles).
Putin claims that the systems were nothing new and therefore their range depended on the missiles that the US decides to provide. The new remarks by Putin have raised many questions since he didn’t specify which targets he had in mind.
Meanwhile, analysts claim that the recent threat by Putin is “nothing new”. He has threatened to use at least tactical nuclear weapons since the war started.Â
Vladimir Putin seems to be worried about the increasing western supply of weapons to the Ukrainians. The current state of preparation of the Ukrainian army for the use of the new weapons is reported to be increasing.
It is predicted that the Ukrainian army will be fully operational with the new weapons by the end of the month. President Putin seems to believe that the Ukrainians will be careful in using the new weapons following his latest remarks.
The new weapons supplied by the US are not anything that will give the Ukrainians the capacity to be at par with the more modern weapons that the Russians possess. However, it is still possible for the Ukrainians to hit the Russian supply chain very hard and give its military forces the significant option to push back while staying at a safer distance.
