The black stars of Ghana could not beat their Central African Republic counterparts. The game ended in a one all stalemate. Ghana took the lead before been pegged back just before the half time break.
A few incidents happened before and during the game that didn’t go in favor of the Stars. The draw could be attributed to some of these incidents.
To start with, the team selection could be an indication that the opponents were underestimated. A total of 8 players were dropped after the 3-0 win against Madagascar. The technical team also dropped 6 players who started the first game from the starting eleven. This didn’t work the way the nation wanted as the team struggled to create clear cut chances.
In addition, the horrific injury to Jonathan Mensah could aslo have dumped the spirits of the players. Mensah was stretched off the field and rushed to a nearby clinic when he collided head-on with an opposing defender.
Moreover, the general attitude of the starting eleven wasn’t convincing. Body language wasn’t the best on the field of play. It seemed the players all had in mind the game was too soft and that it was already a done deal.
In a nutshell, although a draw wasn’t a bad outcome, it would have been great if the team had recorded another victory in order to take a commanding position at the top.
