2023 Afcon Qualifiers: Black Stars Of Ghana Lead Group E After Picking A Vital Away Point

Black Stars of Ghana have accumulated four points after drawing 1 – 1 with Central African Republic this afternoon. The second group game – which is part of 2023 African Cup of Nations qualifiers – lived up to expectations as the two sides gave their all. Kudus Mohammed scored to put Black Stars in the lead while Namnganda equalized for Central African Republic. Ghana, now sit top of Group E with four points, same points as Angola, who drew 1 – 1 with Madagascar in the other match of the group.

Central African Republic and Ghana had a good start to the game as they pushed balls among players while looking for opportunity to break the deadlock.

Black Stars later changed their style, trying to play smart over the opponent. 

The first 10 minutes could not produce any goal as defenders were at full duty to prevent balls from making way into the net. 

In the 17th minutes, Black Stars of Ghana had the urge over Central African Republic as Kudus Mohammed scored to put Ghana ahead. Before Black Stars’ opener, Ghana had been tormenting the opponent from all wings and had their way out.

Following the goal, Black Stars maintained their resilience and pushed balls towards the opponent’s half but they were extremely vigilant to concede more goals, engaging in man marking situation. 

Gideon Mensah was set up with a through ball for goal but the defender could not utilize the chance. 

After the half hour mark, Central African Republic came back strong in search of an equalizer. They opted to open up play and come all out for whatever outcome that will be produced at the end of the entire duration. Central African Republic began to create spaces and look for loopholes to get a goal. 

In the 41st minutes, Namnganda had the equalizer for Central African Republic. 

As the scores stood 1 – 1, the two sides intensified their play with the hope making a huge difference before the game is ushered into a break. Both teams deployed new strategies but that was not enough to cause a major upset as the first half ended goal apiece. 

From recess, Central African Republic appeared energized and threatened for the second goal. 

The tempo of the dwindled close to the hour mark, with teams losing balls and failing to create goal bound opportunities. The coaches effected substitutions especially that of Black Stars when Jonathan Mensah picked up a head injury.

The game ended a goal apiece.
