The planned demonstration by the fix the country movement has dominated the headlines in this country for the past 2 days. The demonstration is a civil right but how they wanted to do it was what caused the uproar among Ghanaians. They wanted to carry weapons and have their private security protect them. That is not done anywhere.
The initial motive for which the group was formed was very noble. They wanted to fight for Ghanaians and ensure things are done right. But the posture and of some members of the group suggest that they are not united. Accusations of mistrust and misuse of funds have rocked them all these months. They will say something today and come out to apologise the next day. How can they be trusted with this attitude?
In any case, Ghanaians want selfless people to fight for them and not people who are self-seeking individuals. How many of the convenors haven’t been accused of engaging in corrupt acts? Virtually all of them have been accused of engaging in acts that don’t befit their motives of the fix the country movement. They should first settle the internal wranglings among themselves before coming out to fight for Ghanaians.
