Fixthecountry Conveynor Oliver Barker-Vormawor has shared his view on the letter written by IGP Dampare to the Her Excellency Harriet Thompson, the British High Commissioner.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page on Wednesday, 1st June 2022, Oliver wrote;
“The subliminal messaging is clear. Why do you think the Police Service will answer an innocuous tweet, and release on social media, a letter they themselves stamped as “Restricted”.
That letter is all the evidence you need of the exact messaging the President and his cabinet want to send all judges and every person who will interact with any legal issue concerning me. That they will come after you if you dare do anything different.”
Oliver added that if the State delivers this acerbic response to the British High Commissioner over a tweet no one saw, what do you think lies in store for any CSO, Prominent person who criticizes the government for their open and brazen harassments.
Just because we don’t speak on all issues, doesn’t mean we don’t know the stupidity they continue to engineer; and the several very shocking and illegal things they are doing everyday. He added.
The Fixthecountry Conveynor, Oliver raised the points below;
1. The IGP went to Tema High Court when I made my bail application, in order to get them to deny me bail. Tell me one single Democracy where this happens?
2. In which Democracy does the Police obtain a search warrant on my phone to search for “crime and fruit of crime” and when we challenge it in the High court; and they realize they will lose; they then go and get a secret order under the Cyber security Act from a friendly high court?
In which democracy does the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice get to so brazenly undermine a court; knowing the court won’t do foko anyway?
Yet, when I reveal this, there will be no single inquiry. No single media house will pick up the story and no journalist will follow it up and investigate it.
The Reason why I don’t disclose these information is because I ask myself everyday, what’s the point? Nothing shocks us in this country; and we are tolerant of the most viral abuse of law.
So, I will keep watching your system with bemusement; and reading those WAEC questions the IGP sent to the High Commisisoner as further evidence of the regime’s immaturity.
