Ghana’s biggest football club Asante Kotoko needs just a point to wrestle the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League, GPL title and, they look poised to attain that feat in their next game.
The Porcupines will wrestle the title on Thursday if they can avoid defeat at Obuasi where they will face AshantiGold SC at the Len Clay Stadium in an outstanding fixture postponed from Matchday 29.
Kotoko will go into this game on the back of a famous 2-0 away victory over Medeama SC at the Akoon Community Park, Tarkwa last Sunday.
They should be in high spirits against the Miners tomorrow afternoon, and with the stakes very high for them, most will expect Coach Prosper Ogum and his charges to rise to the occasion as they seek the point that will guarantee them the title.
Coach Ogum’s Porcupines will look to play their normal game as they confront their regional rivals AshantiGold SC who themselves, have been in fine form lately despite their off-field problems.
However, Kotoko will hope to rely on their experience in past encounters of this nature to negotiate their way through this fixture to further confirm their status as the most successful football club in Ghana.
They have won the top-flight title the most times in Ghana and, their expected victory of this season’s championship will extend that record to 26 titles since the competition began in 1958.
