2023 Afcon Qualifiers: Black Stars Of Ghana Make Good Start With A Convincing Victory At Home

Black Stars of Ghana have had a better start to 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers following a 3 – 0 win over Madagascar at the Cape Coast Stadium tonight. Ajax midfielder Kudus Mohammed, AS Roma striker Felix Afena Gyan and Osman Bukari pencilled their names on the score sheet for Black Stars of Ghana. Today’s victory puts coach Otto Addo’s side at the top of the table with Angola, as the latter bested Central African Republic 2 – 1 at home.

Black Stars made an early attempt at goal as Felix Afena Gyan moved into the box but he was dispossessed, which the Ghanaian appealed for a penalty but turned down.

In the 10th minutes, Ghana had a clear chime when Dede Ayew was brought down at the edge of the box, but his kick found the human wall.

Black Stars maintained their dominance which nearly resulted in a goal but Dennis Odoi’s got to the other side of the net. Later on, Felix Afena Gyan had a through pass but failed to pushed it into the net.

Countless chances kept trooping the way of Black Stars but the cutting-edge eluded the team as efforts to put ball in the net soared and blown apart.

Madagascar had a good moment of putting ball at the back of the net in the 37th minutes but Donisa fired it away having been able to make his way through defenders.

Black Stars remained dominant as they string passes and created decent chances but lacked the urge and drive to slot ball into the opponent’s net. The opponent’s goalkeeper became the deciding factor in the game.

First half ended barren as both sides failed to produce goal, with Ghana claiming the lion’s share of possession.

From recess, Black Stars took charge of proceedings as they kept Madagascar at their own half but they were denied a goal.

Black Stars of Ghana had their way out in the 54th minutes through Kudus Mohammed. Dennis Odoi set up Afena Gyan, who passed the ball to Dede Ayew in box, and he located Kudus Mohammed and smashed the ball into the net.

Two minutes later Felix Afena Gyan added the second for Ghana via an assist by Gideon Mensah after a short corner kick.

Substitute Osman Bukari got the third goal for Ghana in the 86th minutes as he was laid through by Antoine Semenyo. The two minutes added time could not make any significant difference for Madagascar as the game ended with three unanswered goals.
