Reports: Liverpool Star Announces His Departure

Mane has one year left on his Liverpool contract and talks over a renewal have proven difficult. Sadio Mane has given the clearest indication yet that he plans to leave Liverpool this summer, seemingly bidding farewell to the club following the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid.

According to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano, Sadio Mané has announced his departure from Liverpool to his teammates after the game they lost to Real Madrid. The forward is hoping to be only the second African after George Weah to win the accolade, although Salah will also provide competition for him.

Speaking to AS, the Senegal international said: I want to thank the Liverpool fans for everything and the coach too. I wish this team all the best in the world. Sadio Mane is reportedly set to quit Liverpool after a successful six-year spell with Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Reports indicate Mane has been identified as a replacement for Serge Gnabry, with the former Arsenal prospect linked to Real Madrid. The Germany international is also out of contract next summer, and little progress appears to have been made on an extension.

Mane has been a key part of Liverpool’s attack under Jurgen Klopp alongside Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino, whose contracts are also due to expire at the end of next season. But all three could leave for free at the end of next season — by which time they would all be in their 30s.
