The issue of foreign-born players playing for Ghana has been of interest to many. A lot of players George Boateng, Freddie Adu, Mario Balotelli, Jerome Boateng and others snubbed Ghana to play for other countries when Ghana needed them most. For obvious reasons, these players see more potential in the foreign countries than in Ghana and nobody will fault them for their decision.

In recent times, Ghana has been blessed with so many talented young players who are playing at the highest level in almost every department of the game. From defence to midfield to attack, you can talk about some sensational young men who are making names for themselves in Europe or foreign land playing good football.

Brighton and Hove Albion right-back, Tariq Lamptey has served Ghan with some good news after reports that he has finally agreed to play for the Black Stars. The 21-year old has been on Ghana’s radar for some time now and the way has been cleared at least with his decision to play for where he traces his descent. Tariq has previously featured for England at the youth level and was apparently undecided on his future as to which nation to represent at the senior level when Ghana expressed interest.

When everything is fully sorted out, Tariq Lamptey will play at the 2022 world cup in Qatar and at the Africa Cup of Nations in Cote D’Ivoire.
