Nkoranza South MP Visits Injured Victims Of Police-Youth Clash |

Mr Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Nkoranza South, has visited victims who sustained various degrees of injuries during the clash between personnel of the Ghana Police and the youth of Nkoranza.

The clash followed the disappearance and suspicious death by gunshot wounds of the 27- year-old Albert Donkor while in Police custody assisting in an investigation into alleged armed-robbery cases in the area.

Subsequently, another person, who is a student of Nkoranza Technical Institute, Master Victor Kwadwo Owusu, aged 19 also lost his life in the Police-youth clash.

Mr. Agyekum expressed concern about the incident, describing it as “unfortunate,” and called for concerted efforts to be made by stakeholders to appease the aggrieved parties.

Speaking in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) at Nkoranza in the Bono East Region, Mr. Agyekum indicated that failure to pacify the aggrieved families, especially those who lost their relatives would be a threat to security, emphasizing that the situation might degenerate into a state of insecurity in the area.

He visited six injured persons at the Saint Theresa’s Catholic Hospital in Nkoranza where one was in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) while the remaining five were responding to treatment.

In a related development, the MP said he was making an effort to seek justice for five other persons who were arrested by the Police in connection with the riot in the area.

Mr. Agyekum stated justice must prevail, and that he and other stakeholders in the matter were heading towards the law courts to seek redress.
