King Zealot, an actor and musician, was detained in Imo and paraded as an ESN operative. 

Hector Azunna Zealot, popularly known as King Zealot, a Nollywood actor and musician, was arrested and paraded in Imo State as a member of the Eastern Security Network (ESN), the security branch of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB).

The comedian was one of seven accused IPOB members detained by police in connection with the alleged murder of Felicia Nwagbara, a police inspector who went missing in 2017. 

The seven men confessed to the murder of Inspector Felicia Nwagbara, who was the second wife of one of the accused, Casmire Mgbugba, according to IDOMA VOICE.

Police said they found many weapons, rifles, bullets, ammunition, and a live python, which the accused had used to prepare for the attacks. 

Hycent Chimezie, 30; Hycent Azunna, 28; Hycent Ifesinachi, 26; Hycent Chimobi, 23; Chukwuemeka Wisdom, 22; and Nnadike Clifford, 72, are among the suspects.

King Zealot’s friends, on the other hand, have rushed to Facebook to warn that the actor is being subjected to “cheap blackmail” and have demanded his release. 

According to acquaintances, the actor graduated from Imo State University last year, and security officers in the South-East are fond of detaining kids and dubbing them ESN members.

According to what I’ve learned, he was arrested alongside the other suspects and ESN members. “This young man’s name is King Zealot, and he is an Owerri-based actor and musician. I met him through my good buddy Donald Ihem, and I can confidently state that he is neither a thief nor an ESN member. This is low-cost extortion.

“We’ve been in touch since he graduated from IMSU last year.” Arresting people and tagging them with whatever you want isn’t a smart idea. Please release Zealot without conditions… Please share and help to save this beautiful soul. 

“What Nigerian police are doing in Imo state currently is, they will arrest random innocent folks, show awka-made guns, and tag them ESN/Unknown Gunmen,” wrote a Nairaland user named Zonefree.

“Look at the table there and ask yourself how ESN members can carry pipes as well as guns there.” Is this even logical? Even ITJs and JVCs who don’t use such tools prefer ESN. 

“Earlier this week, I received a WhatsApp message from friends warning all youths in Owerri to stay home after 8 p.m. since Nigerian police would arrest and tag ESN members…
