A former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyapong has has spoken, making a passionate appeal to the party’s executives.

According to Kwabena Agyepong, the work of the General Secretary is the only full-time executive position in the party, and that, a person is entitled to monthly salary, but he is yet to receive salary for his services.

Speaking on Asempa FM’s programme, ‘Ekosii Sen’, Mr. Agyapong said all attempts to get the his Party, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), to pay all monies due him has failed.

He added that, “I have written several times to Chairman Blay and reminded him his tenure is about to end so he should do something because I don’t want it to get into another administration but he hasn’t responded”; adding that, he is ready to forgo his salary, but not the SSNIT contributions”.

The former NPP General Secretary again appealed that, “If they (NPP) think I’m not due anything, they should pay my SSNIT contributions because all other General Secretaries have benefited. Sir John until his death was even staying in an official apartment”.

Mr. Kwabena Agyapong was born on March 6, 1962, in the Ashanti Region of Ghana. He was the former General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). After wining their elections, Kwabena Agyapong and the Party’s then Chairman, Paul Afoko faced a lot of resistances from the party. Things came to a head when a party meeting was called when Afoko was out of Ghana and Agyapong was in Kumasi.

According to reports from the internet; “Later, the two (Kwabena Agyapong and Paul Afoko), went around the country to meet party officials, but were chased away by some party supporters and had to be saved by the police. The Party Chairman of the region, Adam Mahama justified the attack on the two, but later apologized”.

The reports again revealed that, “In the night of 20 May 2015, Adam Mahama was attacked by assailants who poured acid on him. He died in the hospital on 21 May 2015. Prior to his death, Adam Mahama was alleged to have mentioned that Paul Afoko’s brother, Gregory was one of those who assaulted and poured acid on him. The Police subsequently arrested Gregory, investigated and presented him before the courts. Calls for Paul Afoko and Agyapong to be pushed out of the party, which started before the murder however continued to grow”.

“After several methods to get them out of the party failed, petitions were made by some members of the party to the disciplinary committee of the party, which recommended Afoko’s suspension. Afoko was suspended though he disputed the legality of the suspension. Later on the same method was used to suspend Kwabena Agyapong, as well as one Vice Chairman of the party, Sammy Crabbe”, the report stated.
