Check out the GPL midweek results played on Wednesday as Asante Kotoko’s lead is cut to 8 points

The eight midweek matches played in the Ghana Premier League, GPL on Wednesday, produced five victories across all centres as the season nears the end.

Of the eight matches played, 11 goals were scored with three of the games ending in a stalemate.

There were four home wins with one away victory as second placed Bechem United cut Asante Kotoko’s lead at the top of the stairs to eight points ahead of the Porcupines game tomorrow.

Asante Kotoko will play away to their regional rivals AshantiGold SC at the Len Clay Stadium at Obuasi in the last of the GPL Matchday 29 fixtures.

Bechem United continued with their good run this second round as they earned a point away at Tamale as they played out a 2-2 drawn game with relegation strugglers RTU.

Reigning champions Accra Hearts of Oak beat visiting Bibiani Gold Stars 1-0 at the Accra Sports Stadium to move third on the table, one point behind Bechem United with five matches to end the campaign.

Legon Cities continued with their recent good form with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over struggling Dreams FC at the El-Wak Military Sports Stadium in Accra.

Cities have moved to the eighth position on the table with 42 points as they seek to finish in the top half of the table. 

Dreams FC are just above the relegation zone one point ahead of the bottom three.

King Faisal Babes earned some respite with an important 1-0 home win over fellow strugglers Techiman Eleven Wonders at the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi.

Faisal, are two points above the relegation zone with Eleven Wonders dropping to the bottom three as we head towards the business end of the campaign.

Karela United made good use of their home conditions as they defeated Accra Great Olympics 1-0 at the Crossby Awuah Memorial, CAM Park in Anyinase to move to sixth on the table just ahead of the Wonder Club.

Accra Lions gave themselves a very good chance of retaining their GPL status with an important 1-0 away win at Sogakope over WAFA to all but condemn the academy lads to relegation.

Aduana FC failed to pick the three points as they drew goalless with bottom side Elmina Sharks in a home game played at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park at Dormaa Ahenkro.

Berekum Chelsea and Medeama SC also played out a goalless drawn game at the Golden City Park, Berekum as the points were shared.
