Incidences about thieves being maltreated after being caught is something most of us have come across. Being a thief in Africa is something which gives an uncertainty of a long life, because once you are caught by people who are not ready to wait for the police, you will join your ancestors at the spot. This is the reason why the society advises people especially, young boys to be very careful whenever thoughts of theft crosses their mind.
A young Nigerian gentleman known as Aliyu John is the core focus of this piece. This lucky thief after being caught stealing a mobile phone at Akotolante in Accra, got the best treatment a thief has ever had. They didn’t lay a single finger on him as expected. These people rather gave him a work to do which was basically, clearing the choked gutters. After this, they gave him drinks, water, made him bath and added new clothes.
As if it was over, these guys asked him what he would eat. The thief replied that he would eat four balls of banku with fish, chicken and palm nut soup. Like a joke, these guys took him to their favorite chop bar and did justice to his wish.
After finishing the bowl, they asked if he would eat again. He replied with “No” and they even went ahead to give him a girlfriend. When asked if he loved the girl, he said he was really in love with her. Below is the girl, Ghanaians are indeed good people.
