Is This Child Labour Or Good Training? The Job A Small Boy Was Given To Do That Got People Talking

A lot of parents in Africa used their children for jobs that are beyond the strengths of the children. Under the Ghana Children Act 1998, the minimum age for admission of children into employment is fifteen (15). However, children may be employed at the age of thirteen (13) to do light work. The minimum age for engagement of persons in hazardous work is eighteen (18).

However, looking at the images in this article you can see a young boy probably between the ages of 3 and 6 years. This boy is being given a hard job that an 18 years person should do to do. This is a corn mill machine that the small boy had to put his hands into it and direct the corn. He is very young but he seems to do the job so perfectly.

Some social media users after watching the video said that the father is training the small boy to become just like him. Therefore is it a good training that the father is being given to the small boy. Others said that what the small boy is going through is very sad and that the father must be arrested.

Some Ghanaians said that this is child labor and must not be encouraged at all. There is nothing good about what the father is doing to the small boy.

Check out some of the reactions from some Ghanaians below:
