I Would Have Agreed If Duffour Had Said That But I Will Not If It Is Mahama-Top NPP Executive Member

Today’s discussion on the Good Morning Ghana was emphatic as it witnessed the member of parliament representing the people of Ningo-Prampram, Sam Nartey George, and the Former Deputy Minister of Health, who is now the CEO of the National Health Insurance Authority, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye. Discussions surrounding the controversial implementation of E-levy became one of the major topics. During the discussion, Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye made an emphatic statement regarding John Dramani Mahama’s political intention of repealing the controversial E-levy. Dr. Bernard Okoe-Boye thus made the below bold statement;

“If Former President Mahama were like Duffour who would now want to be President for the first time or President Mahama wants to be any other person, I will give you the benefit of the doubt with all due respect. President Mahama was part of a Government that complained bitterly and for some strange reason, about a tax that is similar to this; that is the communications service tax. NDC said going for that tax virtually means that you are taxing talking. They called it the talk tax. When they had the opportunity to be in Government for eight good years, they never repealed it and even increased it. And I continue to tell people that, not only did Mahama want to burden Ghanaians, but he knew from the books that if he had repealed that tax, his fiscal management will even get more difficult. And fortunately and unfortunately, Former President Mahama is saying things which he knows in his heart either are not real or cannot be done but he wants to get the power. So, Mahama’s track record in any way, does not supports his intention of repealing the tax”.
