While many Ghanaians have blamed most television stations for promoting these soap operas, others also enjoy and try to copy a few names and cultures of characters in the movies. TV host, Adwoa says she believes telenovelas can be eliminated if filmmakers produce quality movies for public consumption.

“We show them because we don’t have to compete for content to take over the telenovelas. I believe if we have good content on our screens, Ghanaians will not be interested in telenovelas.

“As it stands now, we have no option than to show them because our consumers like them,” she told Graphic  in an interview recently.

She disclosed that a lot of people appreciate the content they show and also express their joy during a live discussion in the studios. “I host the discussion segment of telenovelas and the feedback we get is simply amazing. Our viewers cherish the discussion segment because it helps them understand the telenovelas better.

“Again, even though they are foreign, the storylines are often times relatable so our viewers can relate to them,” she said.
