A Policeman has committed suicide whiles on duty at a warehouse in Abosseyokai in Accra. Construction is ongoing at the Auto parts warehouse and the police officer was tasked to guard the area. The construction workers were watching a video with the police officer on a laptop. After a while, he told them he was going to the washroom.
A gunshot was heard after he left for the washroom. When they rushed there, they saw that the police officer had shot himself with his gun in the throat to death. Policemen were called to the scene to carry the deceased body away. The workers around could not tell whether the policed officer was having a problem or not as he did not open up on anything to them. A retired detective of the Ghana Police Service, Samuel Nana Appiah Owusu reacting to this incident said the training period for a Police officer is very limited and so they are not well equipped for the Job. One aspect he mentioned was that they are not taken through psychological examination to prepare them for the job.
