According to Dr. John Kumah, Deputy Finance Minister, Ghanaians will start paying road tolls if the government allows private investigators to construct roads in the country.
The Minister while commenting on the E-levy which is yet to kick start a few days ahead claims that although the road tolls have been abolished, the government of Ghana is yet to allow private investors to construct roads and build toll booths.
While speaking to Peace FM’s Nana Yaw Kesseh on the Show yesterday, the Deputy Minister says the process of payment might be in a digital form.
He said; “After the government abolished road tolls, an announcement was made about the introduction of private investigators who wants to invest in roads in the country, that is, construction of roads. Those investigators will be allowed to take road toll. Any person who uses those roads will pay for it”
He later said those payments will go into the coffers of the private investigator, not the government, and also government removed road tolls on government roads not private.
