Ghanaian actress and social media personality, Rosemond Alade Brown, well known as Akuapem Poloo has recounted her ordeal at the Nsawam Prison after she was sentenced to serve 90 days in prison.
Akuapem Poloo got herself into legal jeopardy after she published a nude photo of herself and her eight-year-old son on his birthday. Her post was meted with harsh criticism from Ghanaians and asked to take down the photo but she played deaf ears.
Matters got ugly for her after she was arrested and incarcerated shortly after for jeopardizing the child’s integrity by exposing her nakedness to him on social media. She was arraigned in court and given a sentence of 90 days in prison.
The majority of Ghanaians spoke up on her side for the sake of her child, and she was eventually released after paying a GHc12,000 fine.
Narrating her ordeal, Akuapem Poloo said that she was frightened the moment she was asked to step into the prison cells because that was her first time but some of the prisoners received her and gave her a warm welcome.
She said that some of the female prisoners shared their stories with her as some revealed they have spent 15 years and above in prison, hence her three months sentence was nothing to wail about.
