Hearts of Oak punished Lions with unanswered goals to get closer to Kotoko

Reigning champions, Accra Hearts of Oak put up a dominance performance to outclass debutants Accra Lions with a 3-0 score at the Accra Sports Stadium on Friday in a Ghana Premier League match day 26 clash.

A brace from Daniel Afriyie Barnieh and one from Agyenim Boateng gave the Phobians a resounding victory over 10-man Accra Lions to return to winning ways.

Having drawn at home against struggling Elmina Shark last weekend, Coach Samuel Boadu paraded a strong starting eleven, they begun on a dominant note and caused few incursions in the early minutes which led to the first goal in the 11th minute.

Announcing his return from injury, Salifu Ibrahim fired a decent strike which was parried away by goalie Frederick Asare, Barnieh was right at the spot to score from a tap in to give Hearts the lead.

.Accra Lions were soon reduced to ten-men as Abubakar’s nasty challenge on Kojo Obeng Jr warranted a straight card.

Hearts of Oak went into the break leading 1-0 and after the recess, the Phobians doubled their lead.

A long ball down the middle saw Agyeinim Boateng run onto it, twisted and turned and hit a feeble shot into the net to make it 2-0 in the 55th minute.

With ten minutes left to play, Afriyie Barnieh scored his second in the 80th minute when he headed home from a corner kick from Sulley Muntari to make the final score 3-0 to Hearts of Oak.
